"I don't need any of that nonsense"

Earlier this month we had a gentleman in his 40's - 50's walk in and stop at the front desk to speak to Jennifer. "Tell me how this works" he says...."I'm old school and I don't want any of that nonsense of examinations or x-rays - I just want to have him put it in place and I'll be on my way".

There are different ways that Jennifer could have handled this situation - her decision was to let this individual know that she did not think our office was the right fit for him - that since he would be a new patient our procedure is to start with new patient paperwork followed by a consultation and examination with the doctor followed by recommendations based upon this evaluation.

Perhaps this individual did just need a quick adjustment, but perhaps he didn't - we don't know without an proper evaluation.  He obviously had a simple minded (and inaccurate) idea of chiropractic - that he had bones that were either in or out of place. I've seen thousands of patients over the years that thought they just needed a quick adjustment but  instead had very significant spinal problems that a "quick fix" would not have appropriately cared for.

Being in practice now for over 30 years I've seen up close and personal the changes taking place in the profession of Chiropractic and much of it I find very sad. More and more I'm seeing doctors take in patients like this and "treat" them without any evaluation of consequence. "Snap pop spinal shops" I call them and in my opinion this shoddy care and treatment is damaging to the profession and  potentially harmful to the patient.

A work up including consultation, examination, x-rays as indicated followed by a formal report of findings and recommendations / options is how a professional in this industry works....and how we do things here.
